Thực ra con bồ Jesse chết trước hết là do lỗi vô ư của Walt: Khi Walt đến t́m Jesse, lăo lắc người Jesse để đánh thức, nên mới làm cho cô bồ Jane đang nằm nghiêng ôm Jesse bị ngửa ra --> Lỗi đầu tiên là tại Walt (tuy không cố ư).
Sau đó, v́ nằm ngửa ra nên Jane bị nôn --> nghẹt thở. Walt nh́n thấy và hiểu, nhưng lại không ra tay cứu, để mặc cô bé chết. Nguyên nhân th́ có vài nguyên nhân chính:
- Walt không muốn Jesse gắn với Jane, v́ sớm muộn rồi 2 đứa cũng chơi bời, nghiện ngập và tiêu sạch số tiền nửa triệu đô kia (như bạn ǵ đă nói ở trên).
- Nếu Jesse bỏ theo Jane, đến 1 chân trời mới, th́ Walt sẽ mất Jesse, không c̣n cộng sự để chế đá nữa. Có lẽ cái này mới là nguyên nhân chính khiến Walt "nhẫn tâm" với Jane.
