S.H.I.E.L.D. (Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division) là một cơ quan đặc vụ tối mật được thành lập ngay sau Thế chiến thứ 2, tiếp nối SSR. Tổ chức này hoạt động t́nh báo trong thời Chiến tranh lạnh và giờ là cơ quan chuyên trách vấn đề siêu năng lực. Hiện tại S.H.I.E.L.D. nằm dưới quyền của Hội đồng An ninh Thế giới và có tổng hành dinh trên một chiếc tàu bay.
Chưa rơ ai là giám đốc S.H.I.E.L.D. đầu tiên. Ở một thời điểm nào đó, Nick Fury đă lên làm giám đốc. Trong Iron Man/Hulk/Fury kể một câu chuyện ngắn về Fury thời Chiến tranh lạnh. Trong Iron Man 2: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. kể một câu chuyện về việc đào tạo lính mới ở S.H.I.E.L.D.

Bruce Banner (sinh năm 1969) là một khoa học gia thiên tài. Anh có bạn gái là Betty Ross, nguyên là con gái của tướng Ross, một vị tướng đầy quyền thế của Mỹ. Bruce và Betty cùng làm việc ở đại học Culver, nơi anh đă quen biết tiến sĩ Erik Selvig.
Bruce Banner tham gia vào chương tŕnh nghiên cứu bí mật để tái tạo công thức Siêu chiến binh do tướng Ross phụ trách. Bruce Banner do quá tự tin vào kết quả nên đă tự thử nghiệm lên chính ḿnh.
Sự kết hợp huyết thanh Siêu chiến binh và tia gamma đă biến Bruce thành con quái vật khổng lồ xanh cuồng nộ. Nó đập tan pḥng thí nghiệm và làm bị thương Betty. Thực thể này được mọi người gọi là Hulk.
Từ đó trở đi, mỗi khi không kiềm chế được ḿnh th́ Bruce sẽ hóa thành Hulk. Trong nhiều năm, Bruce cố gắng lẩn trốn khỏi những nỗ lực săn lùng của chính phủ.
Truyện Iron Man/Hulk/Fury kể lại một cuộc gặp gỡ giữa Nick Fury (lúc này đă là giám đốc S.H.I.E.L.D.) và Hulk.
B́nh luận:
- Về việc biến h́nh của Hulk, trong The Incredible Hulk giải thích là anh sẽ biến h́nh khi nhịp tim tăng quá 200, không nhất thiết phải nóng giận. Trên thực tế là Bruce suưt biến h́nh khi định quan hệ với Betty.
- Khi đă biến h́nh, Bruce chỉ có thể kiểm soát một phần con quái vật. Anh hiện giờ đă tập được cách hóa Hulk chủ động, bằng cách luôn đặt ḿnh vào một trạng thái nóng giận có kiểm soát.
- Hiện giờ ta thấy có hai loại Hulk. Một loại biến h́nh ngoài ư muốn như lúc ở trên tàu bay, tấn công lung tung. Một loại biến h́nh chủ động (như ở trận chiến New York), đó có lẽ là Hulk có ư thức nhất từ trước đến giờ (biết né người dân, cười đểu, cứu Tony, nghe lời Cap, v.v…).
Fun fact:
- Hulk trong The Incredible Hulk và The Avengers trông hơi khác nhau, v́ năm 2008 dùng CGI c̣n năm 2012 dùng moton-capture.
- The Incredible Hulk là phim MCU bị các tay continuity geek ở nước ngoài phàn nàn nhất v́ không biết đặt nó vào timeline thế nào cho đúng. Giờ có cuốn Fury’s Big Week th́ mọi chuyện đă xuôi.
- Đoạn Bruce với Cap ở Bắc Cực đă bị cắt bỏ, nên ḿnh loại hẳn nó khỏi danh sách Easter Egg (và bản thân đoạn đó cũng kỳ cục).
- Trên phim chưa thấy cận cảnh Hulk biến lại thành người lần nào, trừ đoạn ở nhà Samuel Sterns, nhưng lúc đó chưa biến h́nh hoàn chỉnh.

1) Nhà đại tỷ phú

Lời giới thiệu về Tony Stark, phim Iron Man
Ở tuổi trung niên, nhà sản xuất vũ khí Tony Stark đă có tất cả, một “thiên tài, tỷ phú, tay chơi, nhà hảo tâm” như anh ta tự thừa nhận.
Nguyên là con trai của nhà đại tư bản Howard Stark, tốt nghiệp hạng đầu MIT năm 17 tuổi, Tony thừa kế Stark Industries năm 21 tuổi và tiếp tục phát triển tập đoàn. Tony Stark là sự kết hợp của đầu óc thiên tài về công nghệ cùng một lối sống kiêu ngạo, hào nhoáng như một tài tử Hollywood.
Những người thân tín của Tony Stark gồm:
- Pepper Potts: cô trợ lư xinh đẹp tâm phúc, người hiểu rơ Tony Stark nhất

Ho Yinsen và Tony Stark, phim Iron Man
Sau buổi thử nghiệm tên lửa Jericho ở Afghanistan, đoàn xe chở Tony Stark bất ngờ bị phục kích vả trúng bom. Stark bị ngất xỉu.
Khi tỉnh dậy, anh thấy ḿnh bị gắn một cái nam châm điện trong ngực và ở cùng một bác sĩ tên Ho Yinsen. Yinsen đă đặt cái nam châm điện vào, giúp ngăn mảnh bom không vào được tim Stark.
Những kẻ bắt cóc Tony Stark (do tên Raza chỉ huy) là tổ chức khủng bố Ten Rings. Chúng bắt Stark chế tạo tên lửa Jericho cho chúng. Vờ thuận theo bọn khủng bố, Stark và Yinsen bí mật chế tạo một bộ giáp chiến đấu. Stark tạo ra một ḷ phản ứng thu nhỏ theo công nghệ của cha ḿnh, vừa giúp ngăn mảnh vỡ, vừa cấp năng lượng cho bộ giáp.
Trong quá tŕnh bị giam cầm, Stark nhận thấy nhiều vũ khí của ḿnh đă bị rơi vào tay bọn khủng bố. Dù anh thiết kế vũ khí vốn là để chống những kẻ thù của nước Mỹ, nhưng giờ đây chúng đang được chính bọn khủng bố sử dụng để làm điều bạo ngược. Ho Yinsen vừa như một người phụ tá, vừa như một “Abraham Erskine” giúp Stark nhận ra lẽ phải.
Trong ngày cuối cùng, Ho Yinsen hy sinh khi cố ngăn lính gác để Stark hoàn tất bộ giáp. Stark giết đám lính lác và bay thoát ra được nhưng bộ giáp bị vỡ thành từng mảnh khi tiếp đất. Rhodey t́m được Stark và đưa về Mỹ.

Khi trở về, Stark bổ nhiệm Pepper, cô phụ tá và cũng là người yêu của ḿnh, lên làm CEO của Stark Indsutries. Stark đưa Natasha Rushman (thực chất là Natasha Romanoff, đặc vụ S.H.I.E.L.D.) lên làm trợ lư. Như vậy là Black Widow đă hoàn thành kế hoạch thâm nhập của ḿnh.

Khi tới đường đua Monaco, Stark hứng lên và trực tiếp đua xe trong đội đua của ḿnh. Stark bất ngờ bị tấn công bởi Ivan Vanko, con trai của Anton Vanko (mới mất). Cũng như cha ḿnh, Ivan Vanko vốn thù ghét gia đ́nh Stark, và đă dùng những bản thiết kế của ông để tạo ra một bộ giáp, với điểm nhấn là roi điện.
Nhờ một bộ giáp xách tay do Pepper và Happy Hogan kịp đưa tới, Stark đánh bại Ivan. Tại cuộc gặp trong nhà tù, Ivan tiết lộ thân thế với Stark, và cho rằng hắn đă làm tổn thương Iron Man đủ để cả thế giới lao vào xâu xé anh. Stark bị giới truyền thông và chính phủ công kích. Anh từng tuyên bố nhiều năm nữa mới có người tạo được bộ giáp giống Iron Man, nhưng thực tế là nó ngay trước mắt.
Ivan Vanko sau đó được Justin Hammer cứu khỏi tù. Hammer giao cho hắn công việc chế tạo những bộ giáp để đánh bại Tony Stark.
Căng thẳng bởi t́nh h́nh hiện tại, trong buổi tiệc sinh nhật mà anh ta nghĩ là cuối cùng, Stark say xỉn và quậy phá trong bộ giáp Iron Man, buộc Rhodey phải lấy bộ Mark II để ngăn chặn.

1) Câu chuyện của Iron Man (tt)
“Đă mất 20 năm rồi… mà vẫn c̣n dạy dỗ ḿnh.”
Tony Stark (nói về cha ḿnh), phim Iron Man 2
Sau trận ẩu đả, Rhodey cùng bộ giáp bay về một căn cứ quân đội. Anh giao nộp bộ giáp Iron Man cho chính phủ để làm dịu t́nh h́nh. Bên quân đội sau đó mời Justin Hammer đến để gắn thêm vũ khí vào bộ giáp, và gọi nó là War Machine.
Về phần Stark, sau buổi tiệc sinh nhật, anh gặp Nick Fury và Black Widow (đă bộc lộ thân phận với Stark). Natasha tiêm cho anh một liều thuốc giúp tạm thời khống chế triệu chứng, c̣n Fury giao cho Stark một ḥm đồ cũ của cha ḿnh.
Stark phát hiện một thông điệp bí mật của cha gửi cho ḿnh. Giờ đây anh đă hiểu được t́nh thương của cha dành cho ḿnh đằng sau vẻ ngoài cộc cằn. Howard Stark đă để lại cấu trúc một nguyên tố mới trong mô h́nh hội chợ Stark Expo 1974.
Sử dụng nó, Stark tạo ra một nguyên tố mới có thể thay thế palladium. Ivan Vanko gọi điện báo Stark là hắn vẫn c̣n sống và thách thức anh.

Ở Hammer Industries, thay v́ chế ra những bộ giáp (có người mặc) th́ Ivan Vanko chế ra những người máy (chính xác gọi là “drone”). Hammer rất giận nên cho người canh gác Ivan, c̣n hắn mang những người máy này tới Stark Expo để tŕnh diễn, cùng War Machine (với Rhodey bên trong).
Stark tới để cảnh báo Hammer, nhưng không kịp. Ivan tiếp tục lật kèo Hammer. Hắn cướp quyền điều khiển đám người máy và cả War Machine rồi tấn công Stark.
Trong lúc trận chiến diễn ra, Black Widow khống chế Hammer và buộc tay này khai ra hết. Sau đó cô cùng Happy Hogan tới Hammer Industries để bắt Ivan Vanko. Ivan đă mặc bộ giáp Whiplash do hắn bí mật chế tạo và thoát ra, nhưng Natasha cũng đă kịp lấy lại quyền kiểm soát bộ giáp War Machine cho Rhodey.
Ivan Vanko tấn công Stark và Rhodey, nhưng bị cả hai phối hợp tiêu diệt. Trong nỗ lực phá hoại cuối cùng, hắn kích nổ bộ giáp của ḿnh và những con người máy c̣n lại. Stark kịp cứu Pepper, và cô từ chức CEO.
Khi trận chiến kết thúc, Nick Fury mời Stark làm cho S.H.I.E.L.D. Stark đồng ư với điều kiện thượng nghị sĩ Stern phải là người trao huân chương cho anh ta và Rhodey. Stern thực hiện công việc này dù khó chịu ra mặt.
Các bộ giáp của Iron Man dùng trong phim Iron Man 2:
- Mark IV: buổi giới thiệu Stark Expo, đánh nhau với Rhodey
- Mark V: đánh với Ivan ở đường đua Monaco
- Mark VI: đánh ở Stark Expo, dùng tới khi thay bằng Mark VII trong Avengers
Easter Egg:
- Khiên Captain America bị Stark dùng như vật chêm đồ.
- Kẻ đưa vé đến Monaco cho Ivan Vanko là tổ chức Ten Rings (đạo diễn xác nhận).
- Bản đồ Nam Cực xuất hiện trong đống đồ của Howard Stark. Nam Cực cũng là một nơi có vibranium.
- Bản đồ xuất hiện ở trụ sở S.H.I.E.L.D có 2 điểm đáng chú ư ở châu Phi và Đại Tây Dương (gợi ư Wakanda của Black Panther và Atlantis của Namor). Các điểm khác ở Mỹ, Bắc Cực, Bắc Âu, v.v….
Fun fact:
- Vai diễn James Rhodes là vai đầu tiên trong MCU bị thay diễn viên (Terrence Howard => Don Cheadle), nếu không tính cameo Howard Stark.
- Stan Lee xuất hiện và được Stark gọi là Larry King.
- Stark đ̣i gọi nguyên tố mới là "Badassium".

2) Câu chuyện của Thor

Ở Asgard, sau bao chiến công hiển hách, Thor đă được Odin quyết định truyền ngôi. Tuy nhiên trong lễ đăng quang của Thor, một bọn khổng lồ băng (do Loki đứng sau) lẻn vào hầm lưu trữ của Odin để lấy Casket of Ancient Winters. Dù chúng bị bộ giáp Destroyer tiêu diệt nhưng buổi lễ cũng bị tạm dừng.
Nóng mặt trước hành động trên, Thor trái lời cha dẫn nhóm Warriors Three, Sif và Loki tới Jotunheim để trả đũa. Một trận ác chiến với quân của vua Laufey nổ ra, trước khi Odin tới can thiệp và đưa tất cả về nhà.
Odin tức giận v́ hiệp ước ḥa b́nh với những người khổng lồ băng đă bị phá vỡ. Ông tước đi sức mạnh của Thor và ném anh ta xuống Midgard (Trái đất). Sau đó ông cũng ném xuống búa thần Mjolnir, giờ đây đă bị yểm một pháp thuật, rằng chỉ có người xứng đáng mới có thể nhấc nó lên.
Thor rớt xuống New Mexico ngay chỗ nhóm của Jane Foster (một nữ khoa học gia trẻ tuổi), Erik Selvig (thầy của Jane) và Darcy Lewis (phụ tá cho Jane). Nhóm của Jane lúc đó đang ghi nhận những bất thường trong khí quyển, do việc dịch chuyển của Thor và Mjolnir.
“Con cũng chỉ như một thứ cổ vật bị đánh cắp, bị cất giữ ở đây chờ cha sử dụng.”
Loki (nói với Odin), phim Thor
Thor lâm vào những t́nh huống dở khóc dở cười sau khi mất đi năng lực (nhưng vẫn rất khỏe so với người thường). C̣n nơi Mjolnir rớt xuống trở thành chốn náo nhiệt, thu hút người dân đến để “thử sức” nâng cây búa, cho đến trước khi S.H.I.E.L.D. vây chặt và lập căn cứ xung quanh để nghiên cứu cây búa. Đặc vụ Coulson tới tra hỏi Jane và lấy đi những nghiên cứu của cô.
Ở Asgard, Loki phát hiện ra ḿnh là con của Laufey. Odin do quá mệt mỏi đă rơi vào Odinsleep. Loki tạm lên làm vua. Một mặt hắn tới chỗ Laufey và lên kế hoạch dẫn người khổng lồ băng tới giết Odin, một mặt ngăn trở mọi người đưa Thor về.
Thor phát hiện ra Mjolnir và cùng Jane Foster tới lấy lại. Thor một ḿnh tiến vào căn cứ S.H.I.E.L.D. và đánh tới được chỗ Mjolnir, nhưng anh không nhấc được cây búa.
Coulson cho người bắt giữ Thor. Lúc này Loki xuất hiện (tàng h́nh dưới mắt người phàm) và nói với Thor rằng vua cha đă băng hà, làm Thor suy sụp. Loki định lấy cây Mjolnir nhưng do đă có câu thần chú nên hắn cũng không thể làm ǵ.
Selvig tới đưa Thor ra, bịa chuyện rằng anh ta chỉ là một khoa học gia đầu óc không b́nh thường. Thực ra việc thả Thor ra là kế hoạch của Coulson và Hawkeye để theo dơi anh ta. Thor tới ở với nhóm của Jane và cả hai có t́nh cảm với nhau.
