    Với kinh phí lớn, bộ phim mang tới những cảnh quay đẹp mắt về thiên nhiên, có đủ rừng – núi – sông – suối với các loài động, thực vật phong phú, nguy hiểm có mà hiền ḥa cũng có, đủ để khán giả h́nh dung rơ hơn về ư tưởng Trái Đất hậu tận thế.
    Dù là phim giả tưởng, After Earth khai thác nhiều về chiều sâu tâm lư giữa các nhân vật, đặc biệt là mối quan hệ của hai cha con Cypher và Kitai từ những bất đồng, xung đột cho tới những khoảnh khắc bộc lộ t́nh cảm, sức mạnh của gia đ́nh. Thậm chí yếu tố tâm lư đôi khi c̣n lấn át cả những cảnh quay hành động. Nhiều cảnh cũng sẽ khiến khán giả xúc động như phân đoạn Kitai và chú chim khổng lồ ở Trái Đất hay đoạn người cha Cypher cố ḱm nén nỗi đau đớn, giữ ḿnh tỉnh táo để chỉ bảo đường đi cho Kitai…
    Mặc dù bị giới phê b́nh quốc tế chê tơi tả, After Earth vẫn là một tác phẩm dễ xem với số đông khán giả. Phim hội tụ đủ những yếu tố làm nên một tác phẩm giải trí hè như diễn viên, cảnh quay, âm nhạc, hiệu ứng. Mặc dù cách ráp nối, kể chuyện của đạo diễn M. Night Shyamalan cho thấy sự không đồng nhất nhưng nh́n chung, cha con Will Smith và Jaden Smith vẫn đem lại nhiều cảm xúc qua diễn xuất của họ. Với những ai từng yêu mến cậu bé của The Karate Kid ngày nào th́ chắc chắn sẽ không thể bỏ lỡ cơ hội được thấy Jaden Smith lớn nhanh thế nào, cả về ngoại h́nh lẫn diễn xuất, thông qua After Earth.
