Nên nhớ là tiêu chí để xét top 250 là chỉ dựa vào chấm điểm của regular user, còn thế nào là regular user thì không ai biết vì imdb không tiết lộ, nhưng theo nhiều nguồn phỏng đoán thì 1 user phải chấm điểm cho 1000 phim trở lên mới được tính là regular user.

Công thức chấm:
(WR) = (v ÷ (v+m)) × R + (m ÷ (v+m)) × C
trong đó:
R = average for the movie (mean) = (Rating)
v = number of votes for the movie = (votes)
m = minimum votes required to be listed in
the Top 250 (currently 25000)
C = the mean vote across the whole report
(currently 7.1)
