Lúc đến Vienna, Holly Martins (Joseph Cotten) biết được rằng Harry Lime (Orson Welles) – bạn ḿnh đă bị xe cán chết. Ba người đă mang cái xác đi khỏi hiện trường, trong đó có một người không ai nhận diện được. Anh cũng phát hiện ra rằng Lime vẫn c̣n sống, và quyết định giúp người nhân viên t́nh báo bắt giữ anh ta,...
Lịch sử liên hoan phim Cannes thực chất diễn ra sớm hơn cột mốc 1946. LHP đầu tiên được tổ chức vào ngày 1 tháng 9 năm 1939 - ngày mà Đức quốc xă xâm chiếm Hà Lan. Sau đó bị tŕ hoăn cho đến tận năm 1946 nhưng ban giám khảo lại trao giải thưởng cho 11 phim trong số 13 phim tranh giải. Năm 1947 th́ không trao giải, rồi lại tiếp tục không tổ chức LHP vào năm 1948 và có thể nói rằng 1949 là cột mốc đầu tiên ghi nhận giải thưởng của người chiến thắng là đạo diễn người Anh Carol Reed với bộ phim The Third Man.
Đạo diễn bởi Carol Reed, với diễn viên chính là Joseph Cotton, nhưng chính Orson Welles mới thực sự là điểm sáng trong cốt truyện nói về thế giới ngầm trong Chiến tranh lạnh này. Đây là một trong số những phim Noir (phim đen trắng) cổ điển nổi tiếng nhất, tiêu biểu cho ḍng phim thể hiện sự hồi tưởng nối tiếp với những diễn biến hiện tại phức tạp.
Phần nhạc phim đă thêm yếu tố hài hước vào trong bộ phim thấm đẫm nỗi chịu đựng của con người. Cốt truyện được biến chuyển rất tuyệt từ đoạn giữa, với những cảnh phim kinh điển về thế giới ngầm. Bộ phim gây ảnh hưởng lớn đến mức mà tour du lịch Third Man đă được tổ chức quanh hệ thống cống rănh ở Vienne - nơi người ta đă quay phần cao trào của bộ phim.

Trước đây có nhờ anh dinhtantrong dịch phim này, ảnh bảo dịch cũng hơn nữa rồi thế nhưng trục trặc kỹ thuật nên mất file giờ có người nhận dịch nên vui quá trời. Phim down cả năm nay rồi..

Trong The Third Man ḿnh thấy thích nhất đoạn Holly Martins từ nhà Anna Schmidt đi ra và tiếng con mèo vọng lại làm anh ta nghĩ ḿnh bị theo dơi. Và khi bà chủ nhà mở cửa sổ, ánh sáng từ trên tầng rọi xuống hiện rơ khuôn mặt Harry Lime, gần như vén toàn bộ bức màn bí ẩn của bộ phim.
Nhưng cái mà ḿnh thấy suy nghĩ mà chưa hiểu là tại sao con mèo lại đến đúng chân Harry Lime không hề sợ sệt, phải chăng nó quen anh ta (anh ta hay ra đây đứng) hay chỉ là sự trùng hợp hoặc là dụng ư ǵ đó của đạo diễn. Xuất hiện không nhiều nhưng diễn xuất của Orson Welles quá tuyệt.
Quả thật, ḍng phim noir này có nhiều cái rất đặc biệt mà người xem phải suy ngẫm, phải tự t́m cho ḿnh câu trả lời.
Ngay cả đoạn cuối cùng, cái cô Anna Schmidt ấy cứ đi măi ra khỏi tầm ống kính mà không hề mảy may quan tâm có một Holly Martins đứng bên vệ đường, anh ta cũng không gọi, không nói. Chỉ đứng nh́n vậy mà chấp nhận lỡ chuyến bay về nước...?Phim đă dịch:

Đúng, các thể loại đen trắng này c̣n được gọi là phim kinh điển. Nhiều phim loại này rất kén người xem. Đa số giới trẻ bây giờ chỉ thích xem các phim mới, rất nhiều phim sau này được re-make lại từ các phiên bản trước kia, thậm chí có phim c̣n re-make nhiều lần.

Ḿnh chẳng biết cụ thể Film-Noir là ǵ. Nhưng hầu hết những Film-Noir ḿnh xem đều thuộc thể loại Cime, mystery và sản xuất ở những năm 40, 50. Vànhuw Alt nói nó ảnh hưởng rất lớn tới nền điện ảnh sau này: những t́nh tiết, cảnh quay, nhân vật. hội thoại... Thể loại cực kỳ lôi cuốn với những người mê trinh thám, bí ẩn ly kỳ... Và đây là bộ phim mà dân ghiền thể loại này ko thể bỏ qua được.

Cũng cần phân biệt giữa film noir cổ điển và film noir ngày nay v́ nó cũng có nhiều điểm khác nhau.
Film noir nói cho chính xác th́ là một phong cách chứ không phải thể loại v́ nó rất đa dạng: h́nh sự, kinh dị, giật gân, chính kịch... đều có thể mang tính chất film noir.
Đặc điểm nổi bật nhất để nhận biết film noir cổ điển th́ dựa vào hai yếu tố:
- Film noir tập trung vào việc khai thác cốt truyện, thoại thông minh, hài hước, diễn xuất biểu cảm của diễn viên để tạo nên sức hấp dẫn. Kịch bản thường phức tạp với nhiều chi tiết, nút thắt. Phim có nhiều thoại thể hiện rơ cá tính và đầu óc của nhân vật..
