Phim là câu chuyện về Will Montgomery, một trùm trộm cắp vừa được phóng thích sau 8 năm tù vì thực hiện một phi vụ trị giá 10 triệu USD không thành. Khi ra tù, anh quyết tâm “cải tà quy chính” để sống hạnh phúc bên cô con gái Alison đã xa cách nhiều năm.
Tuy nhiên, đồng bọn cũ và cả các đặc vụ của FBI nghi ngờ Will vẫn còn cất giấu số tiền 10 triệu USD năm xưa ở một nơi bí mật nào đó.Vincent, đồng bọn trong băng cướp của Will ngày trước, bắt cóc cô con gái Alison của anh và nhốt trong cốp xe đúng vào ngày lễ Mardi Gras náo nhiệt trên đường phố. Will chỉ có thời hạn 12 tiếng đồng hồ để giao số tiền chuộc 10 triệu USD nếu muốn gặp lại con gái. Không có trong tay một số tiền lớn đến vậy, Will nhờ cậy tới nữ đồng nghiệp cũ trong nhóm trước đây là Riley Jeffers. Họ cùng nhau thực hiện một phi vụ cuối cùng tại ngân hàng năm xưa để giải cứu Alison trước khi Vincent ra tay giết cô bé…
