Remake từ bộ phim cùng tên năm 1987. Michael Harding (Penn Badgley) vui vẻ trở về nhà từ trường quân đội. Ở nhà, mẹ của Micheal (Sela Ward) đang sống hạnh phúc cùng một người đàn ông mới là David (Dylan Walsh), tuy bề ngoài tỏ vẻ thân thiết với ông ta nhưng Michael ngày càng nghi ngờ về những hành vi của người cha kế này. Cùng với bạn gái của ḿnh là Kelly (Amber Heard), Michael đă bắt đầu t́m hiểu những bí ẩn của David và họ đă phát hiện ra rằng David chính là một tên giết người hàng loạt đă gây biết bao tội ác với nhiều gia đ́nh khác...
